Pregnancy Pills to Help Get Pregnant

Nowadays, more and more couples are confronted with the inability to conceive. There are many factors that cause infertility, factors that can be related to both men and women, but also to incompatibility in the couple or unknown problems. Fortunately, medical science has developed many treatments for infertility, including fertility drugs, surgery, artificial insemination (IUI) and assisted reproductive technology. Most of the time, the first treatment prescribed are pregnancy pills for female infertility. Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here

Infertility in women can have many causes. A woman’s ability to conceive can be determined by a series of factors like age, stress, health problems, lifestyle, diet and sexually transmitted infections. There are certain steps in conceiving and problems may appear at any of this stage, causing infertility.

Sexual intercourse must take place when the egg is released from the ovary through the Fallopian tube and then fertilized by the sperm towards the uterus. Another necessary condition is the balance between hormones. Therefore, various fertility medications will address the problems that appear during the process of ovulation and the problems connected to hormones imbalance.

The 3 most common pregnancy pills used to treat infertility are:

Clomid (Clomiphene Citrate)

Ovulation has a decisive role in conceiving. PCOS or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a hormone imbalance problem and the most common cause of infertility in women. If the ovaries do not release eggs, the most recommended treatment is based on Clomid (Clomiphene Citrate), an anti-estrogen which prompts the follicles to develop in the ovaries.

Due to its efficiency and long history of use (more than 25 years), Clomid is recommended by many doctors. Because it has been on the market for so long, there are many generic versions available bringing the cost dramatically lower to consumers. Another benefit of this pill is that the risk of multiple births is considerably decreased, in comparison to injected hormones.

Parlodel (bromocriptine)

Parlodel’s main use is to lower prolactin levels, which is an important hormone for fertility. When you have an excess of prolactin, it will thereby reduce your estrogen levels and inhibit ovulation. Without ovulation, you will be unable to conceive. Also known as Bromocriptine, Parlodel is also used for treating disorders like amenorrhea (lack of a menstrual period) and persistent breast milk production.

Metformin (glucophage)

Metformin (Glucophage) is prescribed to women who suffer from insulin resistance or PCOS. It can be combined with clomiphene citrate or follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). PCOS causes your body to produce excessive insulin, and, as a response to this, produces high levels of male hormones. It is this excess of male hormones that affects your production of female hormones and makes you incapable of ovulating. Metformin’s main role is to decrease the level of male hormones. When the hormone levels are balanced, there is a greater possibility of embryo implantation.

Fertility drugs must be used only if prescribed by your doctor and always in the right dosage. Like any medication, it may present side effects or the risk of having multiple births (though many women actively seek out ways to conceive twins!)
